The Kuala Selangor District Council was established in 1978 through the Selangor State Law Handbill 18/78. It is a conurbation of 5 local councils: Kuala Selangor Local Council, Tanjong Karang Local Council, Batang Berjuntai (Bestari Jaya) Local Council, Ijok Local Council, Jeram Local Council.
It is located in the western part of Selangor. It borders the Kuala Selangor District to the north, Petaling to the east, Kuala Langat district to the south and Malacca Straits to the west. The district was further divided into two mukims which is Klang and Kapar that covers 626.78 square km of land with 53.75 km of coastline. [3]
It is located 55 km north-west of downtown Kuala Lumpur, and 42 km north-west of Shah Alam, the capital of Selangor. Kuala Selangor town is the largest town of the coterminous Kuala Selangor District, which also contains the adjacent towns of Tanjung Karang, Ijok, Puncak Alam, Bestari Jaya and Jeram. [3]
