Mahagaon is a town in Gadhinglaj Taluka, Kolhapur district, situated in the southwest corner of the state of Maharashtra, India, on the banks of the Hiranyakeshi river.It is about 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) south of Gadhinglaj and 14 kilometres (8.7 mi) from the city of Kadgaon.
After a long winding course, the Ghataprabha river falls 52 metres (171 ft) over the sandstone cliff amidst a picturesque gorge of the rugged valley. At the crest, the horseshoe-shaped waterfall has a flood breadth of 177 metres (581 ft). It also has a hanging bridge which is an attraction for people visiting Gokak.
