The first swim team at the University of Texas was created and developed under Tex Robertson. Robertson was the head coach of the team between 1936 and 1943 and between 1946 and 1950. During that period he led the Longhorns to 13 Southwest Conference championships. In 1979, Eddie Reese became the head coach of the men's swimming team.
Texas has won fifteen national titles in men's swimming and diving (1981, 1988–1991, 1996, 2000–2002, 2010, 2015–18, 2021) and nine in women's swimming and diving (1981–82, 1984–88, 1990–91), making swimming and diving the most successful Texas athletics program by far, based on number of national titles.

The Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center is an aquatics facility at the University of Texas at Austin in the USA. It is home to the university's swimming and diving teams, a variety of university-offered swimming and scuba-diving classes, as well as Longhorn Aquatics, a youth program.

Robert Bowman (born April 6, 1965) is an American swimming coach who is the current Director of Swimming and head men's coach of the Longhorns swimming and diving teams of University of Texas. Bowman is best known as the coach of 23-time Olympic gold medalist American swimmer Michael Phelps and, more recently, of French swimmer Léon Marchand .
This year's events were hosted by the University of Texas at the Texas Swimming Center in Austin, Texas. Hosts Texas reclaimed the top spot in the team standings, finishing 9.5 points ahead of defending champions Stanford. It was the Longhorns' sixth women's team title.
