DC3 is the only college or university in the state of Kansas to own and operate both FM and AM radio broadcasting stations, and is one of only 5 community colleges in the state with a radio station. KDCC 1550 AM is located north of the campus on 14th Street, and KONQ 91.9 FM is located on the first floor of the Fine Arts Building.
The Kansas Board of Regents governs six state universities and supervises and coordinates 19 community colleges, five technical colleges, six technical schools and a municipal university. The Board also authorizes private and out-of-state institutions to operate in Kansas with a Certificate of Approval renewed annually.
The station was placed in several trusts after Alf Landon's death in 1990 until the trustees sold the station to Dodge City Community College in 1992. KEDD relaunched as KDCC and became sister to the existing FM radio station owned by the college, KONQ 91.9 FM.
The Dodge City Conquistadors are the sports teams of Dodge City Community College located in Dodge City, Kansas, United States. They participate in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference .
