Cumberland is a city in and the county seat of Allegany County, Maryland, United States.At the 2020 census, the city had a population of 19,075. [4] Located on the Potomac River, Cumberland is a regional business and commercial center for Western Maryland and the Potomac Highlands of West Virginia.
As of the 2010 census, it had a population of 2,530. [4] Potomac Park lies along U.S. Route 220 (McMullen Highway) between Cresaptown and Cumberland. The CDP of Bowling Green is immediately to the north on Route 220. Within the boundaries of the community are the Allegany County Fairgrounds and the Western Correctional Institution.
