Carolina Crossroads is a 1,000-acre (4.0 km 2) planned entertainment development near Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina located near the intersection of I-95 and US 158.The development was hoped to bring new jobs to the area which had been affected in recent years as textile mills closed and jobs moved out of the area.
Licensed to Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, United States, it serves that area along with Southside Virginia. The station is currently owned by John Byrne, through licensee Byrne Acquisition Group, LLC.
The second and current NC 48 was established in 1934 as a renumbering of NC 482, which traversed between NC 43, in Rocky Mount, and US 158, in Littleton. [2] In 1952, NC 48 was rerouted at Brinkleyville northeasterly on new primary routing to Roanoke Rapids, then replaced NC 47 through Gaston and Pleasant Hill; its former alignment became parts of NC 561, Old NC 48 (SR 1312) and NC 4. This station was assigned call letters as WLGQ on August 5, 1988, which it held until switching to WYTT on January 17, 2003. It switched again, this time to current call sign WTRG, on January 10, 2005. [2] The WTRG call letters once belonged to 100.7 FM in the Raleigh–Durham area, whose city of license at the time was Rocky Mount, North Carolina.
