Joseph Bishop Van Sciver (1861–1943), son of Abram and Lydia H. (Bishop) Van Sciver, was born on May 14, 1861, in Hainesport, New Jersey, but was raised in Camden and educated at E.A. Stevens School. Since 1901, Camden was the headquarters of the Victor Talking Machine Company, later RCA Victor.
