The Rhyl Miniature Railway (Welsh: Rheilffordd Fach y Rhyl) is a 15 in (381 mm) gauge miniature railway line located in Rhyl on the North Wales Coast. The line runs in a circle around a boating lake near the promenade, to the west of the town centre. The railway is operated by Rhyl Steam Preservation Trust, a Registered charity. [1]
Joan, a miniature railway locomotive near to Rhyl, Denbighshire, Great Britain. Joan, number 101 a 4-4-2 locomotive built by Albert Barnes & Co, entered service in August 1920. Designed by Henry Greenly this was the first of 6 locomotives of this type built. She has had an interesting career including a spell at the now closed Belle Vue zoo
Rhyl Miniature Railway is the only original attraction remaining on the site, a narrow gauge railway that travels around the lake and is now based at the new museum and railway centre. There is also a playground and numerous watersports clubs based around the lake.

Rhyl Miniature Railway opened on 1 May 1911 and still runs, but it closed during the Second World War, whilst Lakeside Miniature Railway remained open. The line therefore claims to be the oldest continuously running 15 in ( 381 mm ) gauge railway in the world.
