Interstate 285 (I-285) is a 23.49 mile long auxiliary interstate highway connecting the cities of Lexington and Winston-Salem, in the U.S. state of North Carolina.The route was approved in February 2018 and was first signed in November 2018.
Following the completion of the original subway line operated by the Interborough Rapid Transit Company (IRT), there were plans to construct the Broadway–Lexington Avenue Line along Manhattan's east side. [8] The New York Public Service Commission adopted plans for what was known as the Broadway–Lexington Avenue route on December 31, 1907.
In 1974, NC 47 was extended east, as a new primary routing, to its current eastern terminus with NC 49. In 1981, NC 47 was extended west on new primary routing, through Linwood, to I-85/US 29/US 52/US 70 (exit 86). [3] In 1993, NC 47 was rerouted north from Linwood to I-85 (exit 88); its former alignment becoming Belmont Road (SR 3159). [4]

Lexington is the county seat of Davidson County, North Carolina, United States. As of the 2020 census, the town had a population of 19,632.
