Lansdowne was once a vacation resort for residents of Philadelphia. People traveled by rail and horse to relax in the borough's Victorian homes. Lansdowne is trying to preserve the integrity of its stately homes.

Lansdowne (also spelled Landsdown or Lansdown) is an unincorporated community located within Franklin Township in Hunterdon County, New Jersey. [2] It was named after Lansdown, England . [ 3 ] Judge Samuel Johnston (1706–1785) owned a large estate here.
The resort is situated on 573 acres (0.895 sq mi) and includes a golf course (the Birdwood Golf Course), 26 tennis courts, and a spa and fitness center. [ 1 ] [ 2 ] The hotel was built in 1962 and 1963 based on a design by architects Johnson, Craven & Gibson.
