The league was established in 2016 as Herefordshire FA County League after the disbandment of the Herefordshire Football League. [1] In July 2019, the league was restructured with the Premier Division increasing from 13 to 15 clubs. [2] In 2021, the Premier Division became a feeder league to Step 6 of the National League System.
The Herefordshire FA are committed to developing and administering the game at all levels within the county. In line with The Football Association 's Whole Sport Plan, the County FA has produced a four-year plan aimed at providing everyone with the opportunity to participate in football for life.
Following the winding up of Hereford United on 19 December 2014, the Hereford United Supporters Trust (HUST) vowed to start a new phoenix club. [2] Three days later, local businessman John Hale, who had earlier been chairman of HUST, registered the name Hereford Football Club with the Herefordshire County Football Association, in conjunction with the trust and a group of local businessmen.
