Ichigo Kurosaki (黒崎 一護, Kurosaki Ichigo) is a fictional character in the Bleach manga series and its adaptations created by author Tite Kubo.He is the main protagonist of the series, who receives Soul Reaper powers after meeting Rukia Kuchiki, a Soul Reaper assigned to patrol around the fictional city of Karakura Town.
When creating the manga series, Kubo commented that Rukia Kuchiki, the first character he created, did not seem like a lead character, so he created Ichigo to be the series protagonist. [6] Ichigo is voiced by Masakazu Morita in the Japanese version of the anime and by Johnny Yong Bosch in the English dub. [9] [10]
Yamamoto founded the Soul Reaper Academy 1,000 years before the main Bleach storyline, [12] where he personally instructed Shunsui Kyōraku and Jūshirō Ukitake whom he treated like sons. Yamamoto claimed that no Soul Reaper born in the last one thousand years is stronger than him, but he is eventually killed by Yhwach. [16]
After learning of the incident, Yamamoto calls for an emergency meeting and decides to send Renji and Rukia to investigate, but he warns them not to involve Ichigo. In Hell, Szayelaporro Grantz and Aaroniero Arruruerie , dead after their battles with the Soul Reapers, encounter Shuren, Taikon, Gunjo and Garogai, all of whom are Sinners.
Ichigo later returns to the Soul Society and requests that Genryūsai Shigekuni Yamamoto let Ginjō's body be buried within the human world as the last thing he can do for him. Yamamoto agrees just as Ichigo accepts to continue being a Substitute Soul Reaper. Rukia sees Ichigo off, recalling their time together and silently thanks him.
Yamamoto believes Nozomi is unimportant to him, due to the fact that she is a modified soul. Ichigo tells Uryū and Chad to bring the injured lieutenants to Orihime to be healed. Ukitake and Kyōraku's reigai suddenly appear in the living world and are back for a rematch with Yamamoto, but Ichigo and Nozomi take over for now and spar with the two.
Ichigo and Hirako recognize a new presence, and neither can identify that it is Isshin. Before leaving, Ichigo declines Hirako's invitation. The Grand Fisher draws his zanpakutō, transforming into a stronger state, and Isshin, identifying the Grand Fisher as an arrancar, kills him in a single attack, avenging his wife.
Nnoitra reveals that he is the Fifth Espada and is stronger than Grimmjow. Meanwhile, Renji Abarai , Uryū Ishida , Pesche Guatiche and Dondochakka Bilstin attempt to flee the Espada Szayelaporro Grantz , but because Szayelaporro controls the building they are in, he redirects the hallways to point back towards their battlefield.
