H. L. Hill was appointed the Headmaster of EC, and under his leadership, the EC returned to its status of a prestigious school. In 1949, with the admission of the first group of girl students, the EC became co-ed for a brief period before returning to its all-boys configuration. Today its Form 6 programmes are co-ed.
