Some countries differentiate between weight-shift control and conventional three-axis control aircraft with ailerons, elevator and rudder, calling the former "microlight" and the latter "ultralight".
The aircraft is a development of the earlier Best Off Skyranger and was designed to comply with the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale microlight rules. It features a strut-braced high-wing a two-seats-in-side-by-side configuration enclosed cockpit, fixed tricycle landing gear and a single engine in tractor configuration.
The company is one of India's largest aircraft manufacturers and is the only producer of commercial microlight aircraft. The Tiger Cub Developments (TCD) Sherwood Ranger is a single engine, tandem two seat biplane microlight designed and built in the United Kingdom in the early 1990s.
