Livonia Transmission is a Ford Motor Company transmission factory in Livonia, Michigan. It is located at 36200 Plymouth Road. It is located at 36200 Plymouth Road. The plant sits on 182 acre and totals 3,300,000 square feet (310,000 m 2 ) of enclosed floorspace, making it the largest transmission plant in North America.
Later used by Ford as a parts and vehicle dist. center. Used by the US Army as a warehouse during WWII. After the war, was used as a parts and vehicle dist. center by a Ford dealer, Capital City Ford of Baton Rouge. Used by Southern Service Co. to prepare Toyotas and Mazdas prior to their delivery into Midwestern markets from 1971 to 1977.
By 1945, Ford produced 70% of the B-24s in two 9-hour shifts. Ford built 6,972 of the 18,482 total B-24s and produced ‘knock down’ kits for 1,893 more to be assembled by Consolidated in Ft.
