Religious education is the term given to education concerned with religion.It may refer to education provided by a church or religious organization, for instruction in doctrine and faith, or for education in various aspects of religion, but without explicitly religious or moral aims, e.g. in a school or college.
Religious Education* Schools must provide Religious Education but parents can ask for their children to be taken out of the whole lesson or part of it. [2] Optionally at this Key Stage, schools often teach Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE) and/or citizenship. [2]

Weekday Religious Education (WRE) or Released Time for Religious Instruction (RTRI) is a released time religious education program [1] [2] for public school students in the United States. The program is administered during school hours, but by law [ 3 ] must be conducted outside school property.
The school has adopted a fortnightly timetable and the two year Key Stage 3 (Years 7 and 8) which allows for more time in Key Stage 4 (Years 9, 10 and 11). All students study Religious Education and PSHE and enhanced topical themes in a tutorial and assembly programme. [5] The core subjects in both key stages are English, Maths and Science. [5]
At Key Stage 4 all pupils study Religious Education, English, English Literature, Physical Education (core), Mathematics, Science, whether separate or combined, PSHCE and a Technology-based subject. The vast majority continue with a Modern Foreign Language and pupils can choose from ICT, Art, Business Studies, Drama, Geography, History ...
In secular usage, religious education is the teaching of a particular religion (although in the United Kingdom the term religious instruction would refer to the teaching of a particular religion, with religious education referring to teaching about religions in general) and its varied aspects: its beliefs, doctrines, rituals, customs, rites, and personal roles.
The Education Act 2002 sets out the statutory duty for schools to offer a school curriculum that is balanced and broad-based, that "promotes the spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development of pupils at the school and of society" and that prepares pupils for the "opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of later life".
