The Alberta Government Library primarily serves staff in most Government of Alberta ministries (MLAs are served by the Alberta Legislative Library which is not part of the NEOS consortium). In 2000, the Alberta Government Library was formed with ten site libraries consolidated from the 22 libraries previously administered by individual ministries.
The library is located approximately five kilometres east of the main University of Alberta campus. Its mission is to serve the students and professors of Campus Saint-Jean, the University of Alberta's francophone campus. However, it is open to the public; and borrowing options exist for users who do not carry a university ONEcard.
