Jack Bushnell Hanna (born January 2, 1947) is an American retired zookeeper and director emeritus of the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium.Commonly nicknamed "Jungle Jack", [3] he was director of the zoo from 1978 to 1992, and is viewed as largely responsible for elevating its quality and reputation.
He finished up as an animal behavior major in 1976 and attended St. George's University School of Medicine in Grenada for a short time before going on to work as an instructor for Ohio State University through 1985. [1] [2] [4] During that time, he also attended Columbia University, earning his Masters in poetry in 1981. [4]

As she states, "on the surface, these figures are simply feral animals suspended in a moment of tension. Beneath the surface, they embody the consequences of human fear, apathy, aggression, and misunderstanding". [2]
