It comprises the Boxley Valley in northern Arkansas, near the town of Ponca. The valley includes a number of family-operated farms, primarily dating between 1870 and 1930. The farms are situated on either side of the road that parallels the river, Highway 43. Many of these farms are still operated by the descendants of the original homesteaders.

Mountain View Farm is a historic farm property in rural Yell County, Arkansas. It is located at the eastern end of County Road 218, south of Plainview. The main house is a two-story American Foursquare structure, built out of brick and covered by a hip roof. A two-story porch extends across the front, with spindled balustrades and exposed rafters.
Tate's Barn is an historic barn in Camden, Arkansas. It is located on the Oakland Farm, a 96-acre (39 ha) property off Oakland Street, belonging to the Tate family, who were among Ouachita County's first American settlers. The barn, probably built in the 1880s, is a cypress structure with a complex floor plan spanning five levels.
