Maryland Route 88 (MD 88) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Maryland.Known for most of its length as Black Rock Road, the state highway runs 8.01 miles (12.89 km) from MD 30 Business in Hampstead east to MD 25 near Butler.
Located in the Silver Spring CDP, Lyttonsville is bordered by East-West Highway (Maryland Route 410) to the south, beyond which is the neighborhood of Rock Creek Forest and, further south, Washington, D.C. Rock Creek Park and Chevy Chase are located to the west, Forest Glen Park to the north, and Woodside and Downtown Silver Spring to the east.
The building was probably designed by either William Halfpenny or James Bridges, for the prominent local factory owner William Reeve of Mount Pleasant (now the Arno's Court Hotel), from which it is separated by a major road junction. Reeve smelted brass and copper, and the Black Castle was built from blocks created from the waste slag. [3] [4]
