Oceanside is a beach city in the North County area of San Diego County, California. The city had a population of 174,068 at the 2020 United States census , up from 167,086 at the 2010 census , making it the most populous city in the North County region of San Diego.
On May 16, 2012, the Oceanside City Council voted to name the amphitheatre, as well as its beach community center, in honor of Junior Seau. Seau was an Oceanside native of Samoan descent. He graduated from Oceanside High School and played professional football for the hometown San Diego Chargers for 13 seasons.
The Junior Seau Beach Community Center, also known as the Beach Recreation Center, is a 17,000 square feet (1,600 m 2) facility located near the pier that includes a gymnasium, meeting room, stage, and kitchen.
