Twin Lakes State Park occupies the surface area of the two lakes plus small portions of the shoreline. U.S. Route 20 runs just south of the southern edge of the CDP, leading east 26 miles (42 km) to Fort Dodge and west 90 miles (140 km) to Sioux City. Rockwell City, the Calhoun County seat, is 6 miles (10 km) to the south.
Twin Lakes Township covers an area of 36.82 square miles (95.4 km 2) and contains one incorporated settlement, Rockwell City. Part of the census-designated place of Twin Lakes occupies the northeast portion of the township, surrounding South Twin Lake. According to the USGS, the township contains one cemetery, Twin Lakes.
Twin Lakes State Park is a 15-acre (6.1 ha) state park in Calhoun County, Iowa, United States, located near the city of Rockwell City.The park is composed of two areas on the eastern and western shores of the 453-acre (183 ha) North Twin Lake.
