That same year, Nissan stopped selling the Safari in Japan due to poor sales. Nissan also made a two-door pickup version of the Y61 series available as cab chassis and with a style side tray in some markets. The Pickup entered production at the Nissan Shatai plant in April 2011. [8]
The Nissan RD engine series is basically a Nissan RB engine design, except that it is only a single overhead cam six-cylinder diesel engine. The 2.5 L (2,488 cc) SD25 is the biggest version of the four-cylinder SD series, with the larger bore and stroke of 89 mm × 100 mm (3.50 in × 3.94 in). It was fitted to Nissan 720 pickup trucks 1983 through 1986 and D21 Nissan pickups (only 1986–1988). In some European markets it was also fitted to the Nissan Urvan and Cabstar.
In 1967, Nissan added the Nissan Sunny pickup truck, which was exclusive to Nissan Saito Store locations, which closely shared the dimensions, engine displacement and load carrying duties of the 520 series truck. The 521 was the facelifted version of 520, with a so-called "flat-deck" style.
