Appalachian Swing! is the second album by the American bluegrass band the Kentucky Colonels and was released on April 20, 1964 on World Pacific Records. [1] Although it failed to chart in America, the album sold reasonably well over the course of the year and became an influential underground classic. [2]
Wilene "Sally Ann" Forrester (December 20, 1922 – November 17, 1999), also known as Billie Forrester, was an American musician considered to be "the first woman in bluegrass", having been employed by Bill Monroe (considered the "father" of bluegrass music) and his band, the Blue Grass Boys, from 1943 to 1946.
She released her first solo album, East Kentucky Morning, in 1997. The album was top ten on both the Bluegrass Unlimited chart and the Gavin Americana chart. [ 3 ] In early 2015, Bradley left her record label Compass Records for Pinecastle Records, with whom she recorded her first solo album. [ 6 ]
