The airport is operated by Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), a branch of the Los Angeles city government , which also operates Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).
The airport is located in Burbank, and serves the heavily populated areas of northern Los Angeles County. It is the closest airport to the central and northeastern parts of L.A.
