The Water Rescue Unit (WRU), or Pasukan Penyelamat Di Air (PPDA) in Malay, is a specialised team within FRDM, trained in scuba diving and small boat navigation. The unit focuses on underwater search and recovery as well as surface water rescue operations. Established in 1987, the WRU holds the distinction of being FRDM's first special rescue unit.
