The Thames Valley Premier Football League is a football competition based in England. It has a total of five divisions – the Premier Division, then Divisions One to Four. [1] It was founded in 1989 as the Reading Senior League, as a merger of the two leagues in the town – Reading & District League and the Reading Combination Leagues.
They joined the Reading Temperance League and were league champions in 1912–13, finishing as runners-up the following season. [1] In 1931 the club joined Division Two West of the Spartan League . After two mid-table finishes, the club won the division in 1933–34, earning promotion to Division One. [ 2 ]
At the end of the 2014–15 season the club resigned from the Hellenic league for financial reasons and joined the Thames Valley Premier Football League. [3] Newbury won the 2018/19 Thames Valley Premier League Division One, collecting a total of 53 points from 20 games. [4] Their final game of the season was a 7–2 home win against Eldon Celtic.
Division One is "fed" by the county leagues at level 11, the former Step 7 of the National League System, such as the Surrey Premier County Football League, the Middlesex County League and the Thames Valley Premier Football League. The League organises three cups. The Premier Challenge Cup is competed for by the teams in all three divisions.
