The Air National Guard's 280th Special Operations Communications Squadron (280th SOCS) is a communications unit located at Hall Air Guard Station, Dothan Regional Airport, Alabama. [2] The 280th SOCS provides tactical communication services to state, military and federal agencies utilizing state of the art information systems.
The unit was formally organized on 18 June 1954, and was eventually transferred to the Alabama Air National Guard and relocated to Gadsden. On 22 February 1971, an element of the 225th was reorganized as the Headquarters, 226th Mobile Communications Group and allotted to the National Guard Bureau.
In 1997 administration of this center was merged with a VA center in Montgomery, Alabama, and outpatient clinics in Dothan, Alabama and in Columbus, Georgia, forming the Central Alabama Veterans Health Care System. The Tuskegee facility is now called the East Campus of the CAVHCS.
