A griefer or bad-faith player is a player in a multiplayer video game who deliberately annoys, disrupts, or trolls others in ways that are not part of the intended gameplay. Griefing is often accomplished by killing players for sheer fun, destroying player-built structures, or stealing items.
If used outside gaming, it generally describes deliberate behavior meant to annoy or frustrate others in an online community. The term griefer originated in the online gaming world, and while it is not commonly thought that Wikipedia is a game, the phenomenon can be found on most online communities, including here on Wikipedia.
