Catania Football Club, commonly known as Catania, is an Italian football club based in the city of Catania, Sicily, that plays in Serie C.. Originally founded in 1908 as Associazione Sportiva pro Educazione Fisica, the club boasts 17 appearances in the top flight, reaching eighth place in Serie A on four occasions: during the early 1960s and again in 2012–13.
The club changed their name from Atletico Leonzio to Atletico Catania, doing a controversial move, specially in the eyes of the club's fans from Lentini. They played for seven seasons in Serie C , coming close to promotion to Serie B twice, reaching the playoffs in both 1996–97 and 1997–98, but missing out both times.
In June 2001, Terlizzi completed his transfer to Teramo Calcio, and in his lone season with the Serie C2 club, he played in 21 league matches, and scored a single goal. Following an impressive season, at the heart of the defense, the 22-year-old Terlizzi, was sold to Serie A side, Parma F.C.

The Angelo Massimino stadium in Catania, formerly the Cibali stadium from the homonymous Catania district in which it is located (it is still commonly known by this name), is the multi-sports stadium that hosts the home matches of Calcio Catania.

Born in Turin, Pantanelli spent his childhood in Parma, [1] and began his footballing career with A.C. Reggiana, and from 1992 to 2006, he played for a host of other clubs, appearing in over 400 matches in the Serie C2, Serie C1, and Serie B, before making his Serie A debut in the 2006–07 season after Calcio Catania earned promotion to the premier division.
