Tri-City Raceway Park (formerly known as Tri-City Speedway and Franklin Speedway) is a 1/2-mile dirt oval and a 3/8-mile track for karts, located in Oakland Township, Venango County, Pennsylvania, near the city of Franklin to the southwest. It lies even closer to the Borough of Sugarcreek, which lies in between.
In September 2005, BRP introduced the APACHE track kit - which was the first and only OEM ATV Track kit to fit most major all-terrain vehicles. May 2006 was a big year for Can-Am. It was announced that Bombardier ATV would become Can-Am ATV. Starting in 2007, BRP launched and re-branded its ATV segment to Can-Am.
1963 – Track is widened by 10 feet for safety and a dual-lane timer is installed. Alfred Stauffer and other family members visit Cecil Country Dragway for ideas and it is decided to expand the track again for the ’64 season. [2] 1964 – Track is lengthened to 4,000 feet long and 60 feet wide to allow quarter-mile racing.
The 1 mile (1.6 km) oval track opened on September 2, 2007. The racing surface is the synthetic material Tapeta Footings (a mixture of sand , rubber , fiber with a wax coating [ 3 ] ). It was the first synthetic horse racetrack longer than 1 mile (1.6 km) in the Northeast and the first racetrack paved with Tapeta in the United States .
