The Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering (WYSE) is a program run by the Grainger College of Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign that offers STEM programs to pre-college students, including summer programs and mentorships, [1] as well as the Academic Challenge, a high school academic competition run by Eastern Illinois University.
Engineering Open House typically features over 250 student project exhibits, four design contests (College, High School, Middle School, Grade School), appearances by local and national celebrities, entertainment, competitions for visitors, and prizes. The Senior Project was developed in 2014 by Assistant Director of Student Life Karl Radnitzer, who got the idea from a similar program at New Trier High School in Winnetka, Illinois. The project allows second-semester seniors to explore interests in a more career-oriented way than they would in a typical classroom.
