The first rupee coins of the Republic of India were minted in 1950. [ 3 ] These included ₹1/2 , ₹1/4 , 2 anna, 1 anna, 1/2 anna & 1 pice coins, and are referred to as the anna series or pre-decimal coinage. Under the anna series, one rupee was divided into 16 annas or 64 pice, with each anna equal to 4 pice.
The Indian 10-rupee coin (₹10) is a denomination of the Indian rupee. The ₹10 coin is the second highest-denomination coin minted in India since its introduction in 2005. The new 20 rupee coin is a circle (it is 12 edged*) with a diameter of 27mm (millimeters) and weight of 8.54 grams. The outer ring is composed of 65% copper, 15% zinc and 20% nickel whereas the inner ring (centre piece) is composed of 75% copper, 20% zinc and 5% nickel.
