To serve in the chamber, an individual must have attained the age of 24 and have resided in their district for a period of one year preceding the election. State representatives are paid $36,813 per year, with a per diem of $121 per day. The Speaker of the House is the most powerful individual in the chamber, elected by all members of the House.
The district is based in central Missouri including all of Cole, Camden, Miller, Moniteau and Morgan counties. [2] The state capitol of Jefferson City is within the district, with other municipalities including California, Camdenton, Eldon, and Osage Beach. The district is also home to the Lake of the Ozarks and Lincoln University of Missouri.

Roberts defeated three opponents during the 2016 Missouri House of Representatives District 77 Democratic primary and served 2 two-year terms. He ran unopposed in the General Election. Incumbent Roberts then defeated Kimberly-Ann Collins in his second Democratic primary on August 7, 2018, and won the General Election on November 6, 2018. [ 12 ]
