The Old Crown, a pub in Deritend, claims to be one of the oldest extant secular buildings in Birmingham, England. [1] It is Grade II* listed, and claims to date back to c. 1368, retaining its "black and white" timber frame, although almost all of the present building dates from the early 16th century.
The pub is located next to the abandoned, but listed, Curzon Street railway station, which will be part of the new station being developed as a terminal of the HS2 rail scheme. [ 4 ] There is still a "Smoke Room" in the pub, although its original use is now prohibited by law, which once again has the original Mintons tiling and seating.
