Wilbur Cahoon arrived in Avon in 1814 from Herkimer County, New York with his wife, Priscilla and family; [2] he was Avon's first settler and an early industrialist. [3]

Avon Lake is a city in northeastern Lorain County, Ohio, United States, located on the southern shore of Lake Erie about 17 miles (27 km) west of Cleveland. The population was 25,206 at the 2020 census .
