El Poble-sec (pronounced [əl ˌpɔbːləˈsɛk]; Catalan for 'The Dry Village') is a neighborhood in the Sants-Montjuïc district of Barcelona, Catalonia . The neighborhood is located between Montjuïc mountain and the Avinguda del Paral·lel .
Comprising very different areas of the city, it covers the southern part of Barcelona, joining the two former districts II (made up by Montjuïc and Poble-Sec) and VII (Sants ― Hostafrancs ― La Bordeta), as well as the different areas comprised in the Zona Franca. As of the 2005, census it had a population of 177,636.
Poble Sec is a station of the Barcelona Metro network located in the neighbourhood of the same name, in the district of Sants-Montjuïc, Barcelona. It is served by L3 (green line), and was previously known as Parlamento. [2] [3] The station is located directly under Avinguda del Paral·lel between Carrer de Manso and Carrer del Parlament.
There are three stations of the Barcelona Metro network on the avenue: Paral·lel, on L2 (purple line) and L3 (green line); Poble Sec, on L3; and Espanya, underneath Plaça d'Espanya, served by lines L1, L3, L8 and a number of Baix Llobregat-bound Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya commuter lines (Metro del Baix Llobregat).
