The road continues as MD 423 and Town Point Road, passing west of Herring Bay. The route follows Leitch Road west and Franklin Gibson Road north, heading north onto MD 256. The Roots and Tides Scenic Byway continues north along MD 468 and comes to Galesville, where the Galesville Heritage Museum and the Capt. Salem Avery House are located.
Maryland Route 555 was the designation for Wilson Road from MD 263 at Plum Point south a short distance in central Calvert County. [4] The highway was constructed as a gravel road in 1933. [ 5 ] [ 6 ] MD 555 was removed from the state highway system in 1957.
