Initially the rankings were for Test cricket only, but separate One Day International rankings were introduced in 1998. Both sets of rankings have now been calculated back to the start of those forms of the game. The rankings include the top 10 Test, ODI and T20I batsmen, bowlers and all-rounders based on the rating of each player.

As of 7 August 2024, India leads the ICC Men's ODI Team Rankings, with a rating of 118 from 45 weighted matches, while the lowest rated team, UAE, has a rating of 12 from 30 weighted matches. The ICC Men's ODI Team of the Year is an honour awarded each year by the International Cricket Council. It recognizes the top cricket players from around the world in the ODI format of the game. The team does not actually compete, but exists solely as an honorary entity.
The ICC Men's ODI Team Rankings were created, and are run, by the ICC for reasons similar to the Test Rankings. The rankings are simply an international ranking scheme overlaid on the regular ODI (One Day International) match schedule. After every ODI match, the two teams involved receive points based on a mathematical formula.
The 2023–24 international cricket season included series from late September 2023 to March 2024. [1] This calendar included men's Test, men's One Day International (ODI), men's Twenty20 International (T20I), women's Test, women's One Day International (ODI) and women's Twenty20 International (T20I) matches, as well as some other significant series.
