Chenghai (Chinese: 澄海; pinyin: Chénghǎi; postal: Tenghai; Teochew: Thěng Hài) is a district of the city of Shantou, Guangdong Province, China.. Located at the Han River Delta in the southeast part of Guangdong Province, Chenghai spans from 116°41' to 116°54' E longitude and 23°23' to 23°38' N latitude.

Shantou, alternately romanized as Swatow [3] [4] and sometimes known as Santow, [5] is a prefecture-level city on the eastern coast of Guangdong, China, with a total population of 5,502,031 as of the 2020 census (5,391,028 in 2010) and an administrative area of 2,248.39 square kilometres (868.11 sq mi).

The former are mostly sea ports (except for ports such as Shanghai, Nanjing and Jiujiang along the Yangtze and Guangzhou in the Pearl River delta) opening up to the Yellow Sea (Bo Hai), Taiwan Strait, Pearl River and South China Sea while the latter comprise ports that lie along the major and minor rivers of China. Nan'ao Bridge , a cross-sea bridge connecting Chenghai District and Nan'ao County, was officially opened to traffic on January 1, 2015. [12] The bridge starts at Laiwuwei ( 莱芜围 ) in Chenghai District, and ends at Changshanwei ( 长山尾 ), Nan'ao County, which is connected with a loop highway which circumferences the island. [ 12 ]
