This year's State Fair is scheduled for 8-17 August 2024. The State Fairgrounds consists of a large open park for carnivals and exhibition, grandstands, and several exhibition buildings.
West Virginia State University held its commencement ceremonies in the Coliseum until 2013. Recently the Coliseum started hosting more concerts in the area bringing icons such as Judas Priest, Jelly Roll, Motionless In White and Heart to the city.
