The Pirate Party of Oklahoma was formed on January 18, 2010, with the signing of its constitution, [28] and the filing of a motion of intent to form a political party with the Oklahoma Election Board. The founding chairman was Marcus Kessler. The party was named an official state chapter of the United States Pirate Party on January 19, 2010. [29]

The party is a member of Pirate Parties International and European Pirates (PPEU). MikulᚠPeksa is a board member of PPEU, [ 77 ] and Vojtěch Pikal was a co-chairman of PPI in 2013 and 2014. In April 2012, the party organised a conference of the Pirate Parties International (PPI) in Prague.
On 6 April 2017, Ancilla announced [6] that she would be leaving the Pirate-Party as lijsttrekker and would instead focus on her own projects. She will be a passive member and is going to continue to give advice to future party-members.
