Citation Style 2 (CS2) is a style applied to citations on Wikipedia. It is used by default in the general purpose citation template {}, and available as an option in many other templates. The commonly-used citation templates have two style modes. [1] These modes change how the citation is punctuated when it's rendered.
The visual editor helps users format, insert, and edit sources by simply providing a DOI, URL, ISBN etc., see WP:REFVISUAL. The citation generation tool of the Visual Editor (WP:REFVISUAL) can also be used when editing the article source, for users who have enabled the 2017 wikitext editor in their preferences.
Citations can also be placed as external links, but these are not preferred because they are prone to link rot and usually lack the full information necessary to find the original source in cases of link rot. This talk is mostly about Zotero, which is a free and open-source citation management tool. Zotero is used on the Wikipedias through the automagic citoid service.
