The J.72 was an ultra-exclusive luxury roadster, the first production vehicle of the Panther Westwinds company. [1] Styled to evoke the Jaguar SS100 and sold from 1972 to 1981, it used mechanicals from the Jaguar XJ, including its 5.3 L V12 engine.
Jaguar Cars was the company that was responsible for the production of Jaguar cars until its operations were fully merged with those of Land Rover to form Jaguar Land Rover on 1 January 2013. Jaguar's business was founded as the Swallow Sidecar Company in 1922, originally making motorcycle sidecars before developing bodies for passenger cars.
SS Cars was a British manufacturer of sports saloon cars from 1934 until wartime 1940, and from March 1935 of a limited number of open 2-seater sports cars. From September 1935, their new models displayed a new name: SS Jaguar.
The cars were marketed as the Jaguar 1½ litre, Jaguar 2½ litre and Jaguar 3½ litre with the Mark IV name later applied in retrospect to separate this model from the succeeding Mark V range. The range was a return to production of the SS Jaguar 1½ litre, 2½ litre and 3½ litre models produced by SS Cars from 1936 to 1940. [ 1 ]
1955 Cooper-Jaguar T38. The Cooper T38, also known as the Cooper-Jaguar, is a lightweight sports car designed and developed by Cooper Cars for motor racing in 1955. It was entered in the 1955 24 Hours of Le Mans, being driven by Peter Whitehead and Graham Whitehead, but retired after only 3–4 hours due to engine problems and an oil leak.
The same year also saw the introduction of the Lincoln Navigator SUV and in 2000 the Lincoln LS, which shared its engines and platform with the Jaguar S-Type, was introduced. All three cars were designed in Irvine, California and were, according to many critics, heavily influenced by Jaguar design themes.
