The Bowatenna Dam is a 100 ft (30 m) high gravity dam at Bowatenna, in Central Province of Sri Lanka. The dam was built in June 1981 , and is used primarily for irrigation . A 40 MW power station is also constructed 5,800 ft (1,800 m) downstream, for hydroelectric power generation.

Irrigation dams with a length and height of more than 100 m (330 ft) and 10 m (33 ft) are listed, including all the state-run hydroelectric power stations.
The dam creates the relatively small Rantembe Reservoir, which has a catchment area of 3,118 km 2 (1,204 sq mi), and a total capacity of 21,000,000 m 3 (740,000,000 cu ft). Water from the reservoir is channelled through the dam through a steel penstock to power the two 26- megawatt turbines .
The work is in addition to planned electrical and septic line upgrades and will cause park closures. Campsites 1-99 will close Aug. 23 to June 15, 2025.

In the winter of 2017, removal of the dam was completed. The park has grown to 1,142 acres (462 ha). [4] There are campsites and a large day-use picnic area. Hiking, picnicking and camping are popular summer time activities, while salmon and steelhead fishing are popular in the winter. [2]

South Fork State Recreation Area is a state park unit of the state of Nevada covering nearly four thousand acres, located five miles (8.0 km) due south of Elko. [4] The park comprises the 1,650-acre (670 ha) South Fork Reservoir [ 5 ] and surrounding marsh, meadowlands, and hills.
