The Wild Pair Marvin Gunn and Bruce DeShazer did not appear in the video, although two other cats (also animated) did appear, possibly meant to represent them. The video won the 1991 Grammy Award for Best Short Form Music Video and was nominated for Breakthrough Video at the 1990 MTV Video Music Awards .
The Wild Pair, whose real names are Bruce DeShazer and Marv Gunn, was a singing duo and voice actors who were primarily known for their 1989 hit duet with Paula Abdul, "Opposites Attract" (in the video their part was performed by cartoon character MC Skat Kat, a.k.a. rapper Derrick "Delite" Stevens).

In late 2010, "Opposite of Adults" was featured as the background music for the Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit video game commercial, [4] as well as in the game, in an episode of Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory, and in episode 8 of Friday Night Lights 's fifth season. The song was also used in the trailer for 30 Minutes or Less.
