Vogue Theatre was built as an 897-seat movie theater by S. Charles Lee, who was responsible for many theaters in Los Angeles, including the nearby Hollywood Theater and Holly Cinema. The theater opened on July 16, 1935, [ 1 ] showing Ivor Novello 's The Phantom Fiend .
