Quail Creek came to fruition when a steering committee of businessmen headed by elected Chairman, Boston Smith, met on May 6, 1960. After much research, the committee selected a 158-acre section of farmland which was a familiar landmark to Oklahoma City residents, having been the country home of Virgil Browne, a well known civic leader.
The course was founded in 1911 by 300 Oklahoma City residents. The course, designed by architect Perry Maxwell, measures 6,861 yards from the championship tees and plays to a par 71 with a course rating of 73.5 and a slope of 130. The course features tree-lined fairways throughout the rolling hills.
The tournament first played in the 1920s under the name Oklahoma City Open. After a hiatus of nearly three decades, the PGA Tour returned to Oklahoma City in the 1950s. The 1962–1967 events were held at Quail Creek Golf & Country Club .

Twin Hills Golf & Country Club is a country club located in an unincorporated part of Oklahoma County that borders Forest Park and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The golf course hosted the PGA Championship in 1935. Johnny Revolta won the tournament beating Tommy Armour 5 and 4. [1] [2]
