Oconto is a city and county seat of Oconto County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 4,609 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Green Bay metropolitan area. The city is located partially within the town of Oconto.
The highway turns east onto Green Bay Street, joining WIS 47 and Wisconsin Highway 55 south for two miles (3 km) within the city. WIS 47 and WIS 55 then turn south onto Airport Road and WIS 22 passes northeast around the southeast side of Shawano Lake and through Cecil, junctioning with WIS 117. The highway enters Oconto County at Pulcifer. [8]
The Oconto River is 56.9 miles (91.6 km) long, [1] stretching from the confluence of its North and South branches at Suring, Wisconsin, to Green Bay at the city of Oconto. Its drainage basin covers 2,416 square miles (6,260 km 2), encompassing most of Oconto County as well as portions of Shawano, Marinette, Menominee, Langlade, and Forest counties.
From the Green Bay suburb of Howard northward, including the entire length through Michigan, US 141 is a part of the NHS. [ 5 ] [ 6 ] From the I-43 interchange in Howard north to the split at Abrams, US 141 is also a part of the Lake Michigan Circle Tour (LMCT), a tourist route that surrounds Lake Michigan .

The freeway conversion, which was completed by 2001, cleared the way for Interstate 41 to be designated along the corridor from the Illinois state line to Green Bay.
