Music Row is a historic district located southwest of downtown Nashville, Tennessee, United States.Widely considered the heart of Nashville's entertainment industry, Music Row has also become a metonymous nickname for the music industry as a whole, particularly in country music, gospel music, and contemporary Christian music.
[3] Live music plays in most bars and restaurants along Lower Broadway from as early as 10 a.m. to 3 a.m. or even later each day, which is how the street came to be known as "Honky Tonk Highway". The venues don't have cover charges, and established music artists sometimes make appearances to perform with the up-and-comers.
The district is located between 2nd Avenue and 5th Avenue on Broadway Street in Downtown Nashville. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places listings in Davidson County, Tennessee on July 18, 1980. [2] The area has become a tourist destination welcoming families in the daytime and adults over 21 years old in the evening.
